Dr. Sean Lenard

Dr. Lenard strongly believes in the C.G. Jung mantra “I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.” This belief leads her focus with patients and is why she shares with them that there are no issues too great for an individual to overcome, if they are willing to put forth the effort and energy that it takes to deal with issues head on. Therapy with Dr. Lenard is a process that promotes change and encourages an individual to seek their self-reflecting truth. Her treatment goal is solution-focused, which assists clients in identifying emotional barriers and working through them to achieve a higher quality of life. She relies on elements from reality therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness from a person-centered and strength-based perspective when counseling individual or group clients. Her areas of interest and focus are working with adults, couples, and families suffering from various mental health issues including depression, anxiety, anger, poor communication, and addiction disorders. In addition, she has a strong passion for connecting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds focused on providing them tools to improve self-identity issues and gain a deeper understanding of self. She also extends this type of multicultural counseling to business entities that need assistance with creating a more inclusive and culturally compassionate workplace. In 2001, she obtained her Master’s degree in Political Science from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.  In 2014, she obtained an additional Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. In May 2020, Dr. Lenard completed her doctorate degree in Public Health with a concentration In Health Policy Management.
